Ontological Questions About Photography

Abstract

In theoretical and conceptual terms, it is related to where the phenomenon of photography stands in life and how its ontological interpretation is handled in social, political, communal, psychological and individual contexts. In order to examine the place of photography in human history from different perspectives, it is necessary to reveal its relationship with related areas. Understanding the structure of photography in terms of ontology from its beginning to the present day is possible by examining the causality or different types of relationship of photography with the objective world. The reality of photographic discourse and its relationship with the objective world is a representation. These representations are determined by the regimes of meaning and interpretation. Photography can be viewed as a tool of illusion of reality, a window or a mirror. It can also be considered as a document and evidence in the sense we attribute to it in verbal and literary language. Regardless of which perspective we look at, photography should be considered as a code and language system.
