"Our Route Is Health" Radio and Podcast Program

Abstract

Health education tailored for the public constitutes one of the core focus areas of public health. Numerous health-related briefings are conducted across traditional and digital media channels, both of which play a pivotal role in enhancing individual health literacy. However, the weak oversight mechanisms within digital media tools particularly social media foster the dissemination of scientifically inaccurate and outdated content. Within this context, broadcast content that undergoes rigorous internal review and is enriched through the lenses of social determinants of health and preventive care gains substantial value. This study aims to introduce and evaluate the “Rotamız Sağlık” (Our Route is Health) program, which was broadcast between 2024 and 2026 on Radio Ege Kampus within Ege University, under the coordination of a public health professional, from the perspective of health communication. Offering a multi-channel access model through both traditional radio broadcasting and digital podcast platforms, the program addressed critical public health topics such as chronic diseases, digital health literacy, and tobacco control. Consisting of 60 episodes in total, this study holds significant importance in delivering evidence-based medical knowledge to wide audiences.
