Abstract

Presenteeism is a concept related to employees continuing to work and being present at the workplace despite experiencing various problems, yet failing to perform their duties with the expected level of productivity. The purpose of this study is to examine articles published in journals indexed in the TR Index on the topic of presenteeism from a bibliometric perspective and to identify the general characteristics of the national literature in Turkey. A search was conducted in the TR Index on August 11, 2026, using the term “presenteeism” and its Turkish and English equivalents. After excluding duplicates and irrelevant studies from the 660 records retrieved, 78 articles were included in the analysis. Of the articles examined, 97.5% were research articles, and the publications appeared in 57 different journals. The articles were most frequently classified under the topics of business administration (60.3%), psychology (34.6%), health policies and services (32.1%), and nursing (28.2%). The year with the highest number of publications was 2019. In conclusion, it is evident that academic interest in presenteeism in Turkey has increased in recent years, with studies spanning various disciplines but concentrating particularly in the field of business administration. In the future, increasing interdisciplinary studies covering different occupational groups and sectors will contribute to a more comprehensive assessment of the individual, organizational, and health-related consequences of presenteeism.
