Abstract

In this issue of SoSa, we bring together studies from different disciplines examining the intersections of health, the body, working life, visual culture, and social structures. Volkan Altunbudak explores the implicit role of health discourse in bodily discipline and self-regulation among amateur triathletes. Gonca Gül Durğay and Bülent Kılıç review work-related neck musculoskeletal disorders among healthcare workers within the framework of the Health Promoting Hospitals approach, while Yasemin Mahmudoglu discusses the physical, psychological, and cognitive factors affecting fitness for work in the aviation sector. Erhan Eser critically examines the 2025 Türkiye Health Survey in terms of its scope, methodological choices, and the social realities that remain outside measurement. Aylin Leblebici Öztürk reinterprets photography through Lacan’s Theory of the Four Discourses, while Bülent Kılıç discusses health systems, inequalities, and medical ethics through A. J. Cronin’s The Citadel. Göknil Çavuş Konak examines the Rotamız Sağlık radio and podcast programme as a model of multichannel health communication and health literacy. Ahmet Furkan Süner and Ahmet Can Bilgin map the development of presenteeism research published in TR Dizin-indexed journals through bibliometric analysis. The visual language of the issue reinterprets the office and data-processing aesthetics of the 1960s and 1970s through cut-paper collage, punch cards, maps, and charts, drawing on the concise and striking visual vocabulary associated with Saul Bass.
